Sifu Wayne's Workshops

Focus on one topic with workshops

This course contains all of the workshops and seminars Sifu Wayne records. Most of these are deep-dives into particular topics so they offer valuable knowledge on rarely taught parts of the art. In the core curriculum we didn't have the time to spend one hour or more on each small detail. To keep the price low on the core course and to allow people a-la-carte access to deep-dive topics, we separated the core lessons from the workshops. Simple and effective, the yearly cost is about 50% of download retail for the same videos.

Professional Biography

Sifu Wayne Belonoha is an internationally recognized Wing Chun master, lineage representative, author, educator, competition official, organizational leader, and management consultant. He began martial arts training in 1979 and has devoted more than four decades to the study, practice, preservation, and advancement of traditional martial arts. His early training included Chito-Ryu Karate, jiu-jitsu, Shorin-Ryu Karate, tai chi, baguazhang, xingyiquan, and modified Wing Chun. In 1993, he began training in Moy Yat Ving Tsun under Grandmaster Sunny Tang (Dunn Wah), a senior disciple of Grandmaster Moy Yat in the Ip Man lineage.

Recognized as a disciple of Grandmaster Sunny Tang, Sifu Belonoha holds the rank of Seventh-Degree Senior Master through the International Moy Yat Ving Tsun Federation. He is also recognized as a Seventh-Level Master by the Confederation of Canadian Wushu Organizations and as a tenth-generation lineage holder in Ng Mui Ving Tsun Kung Fu. He founded and serves as head instructor of Wai’s Kung Fu, with a teaching presence associated with Canada, China, and the United States, and previously founded the Canadian Ving Tsun Academy. He began teaching under Grandmaster Sunny Tang’s supervision in 1993 and later served as a senior instructor at Sunny Tang Martial Arts Centres.

Sifu Belonoha is the author of four major books on Wing Chun: The Wing Chun Compendium, Volume One; The Wing Chun Compendium, Volume Two; An Approach to Ip Man Style Wing Chun; and The Wing Chun Plum Flower Posts. His books are known for organizing Wing Chun’s principles, training methods, forms, applications, and technical details into a systematic curriculum and his books are widely regarded as the most comprehensive on the market. He also created The Complete Wing Chun System video series and serves as the flagship instructor for Wing Chun University.

As a writer and educator, Sifu Belonoha served as a staff writer for Wing Chun Illustrated and has published more than 75 articles in international trade magazines, in addition to online instructional articles and videos. His earlier publishing work included coauthoring an article for Kung Fu Qigong magazine, producing martial arts websites and instructional video clips, and serving as technical editor for Grandmaster Sunny Tang’s Ving Tsun Siu Lim Tao CD. His teaching and published work have helped make detailed, systematic Wing Chun instruction accessible to practitioners throughout the world.

His service to the international martial arts community extends well beyond teaching. Sifu Belonoha has served as vice president and a lifetime member of the International Moy Yat Ving Tsun Federation. He has also held executive positions in provincial and national Canadian and American wushu organizations, including secretary general and vice president roles. His past appointments include secretary general of the United Wushu Association of Ontario, secretary general and vice president of the United Wushu Federation of Canada, and assistant to the president of the Canadian Chinese Kuo Shu Federation. He has served as a lifetime honorary advisor to the president of Wushu Canada and as an honorary lifetime member and consultant to the Confederation of Canadian Wushu Organizations.

Sifu Belonoha has contributed to the development of competition and grading standards at national and international levels. His work has included serving as a rules and standards consultant to the International Wushu Federation’s Wing Chun Council, helping define an internationally recognized grading and judging system aligned with international wushu requirements, and teaching an International Wushu Federation Wing Chun judge-training course in Hebei, China. He has served as a certified international judge, a Pan American Wushu Federation judge, an official at Canadian national team trials, and a judge at the 2018 World Wing Chun Open Competition in Foshan, China. He has also helped organize national and international kung fu competitions and served as a head scoring official and director of information-technology operations for major events.

As a competitor, Sifu Belonoha became a Pan American triple gold medalist in the Wing Chun division, winning gold medals in long-weapon fighting with the Lok Dim Boon Kwan, short-weapon fighting with the Baat Jaam Do, and the Wing Chun Biu Jee form. He also earned a silver medal in the Chum Kiu form. At the national level, he earned multiple gold medals in the wooden-dummy form and gold-medal recognition in Chi Sao and Mai San Jong fighting. As a coach, he served in leadership roles for Canadian and American teams, including as Canadian National Team Lead in 2013. His athletes and teams have earned medals in international competition.

Sifu Belonoha has performed Wing Chun and Chinese martial arts before prominent audiences around the world. He performed with a group for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II during a royal visit to Canada and at the grand openings of the Ip Man Hall in Foshan and the Bruce Lee Tribute Park in Shunde, China. His performance history includes more than 100 live and televised kung fu, lion-dance, and dragon-dance demonstrations, as well as appearances on Canadian television. He was also featured in the Disney+ documentary Under the Helmet, where he worked with professional football player Charles Harris to refine his performance in pursuit of the sport’s ultimate achievement: a Super Bowl championship. Harris later applied that training during the 2025 season, contributing to his team’s Super Bowl victory.

In Atlanta, Sifu Belonoha extended his commitment to traditional Chinese culture beyond the martial arts by operating a traditional Gong Fu tea house as a cultural complement to his kung fu practice and school. His institutions earned recognition in both fields: the tea house was named Best Tea House by Atlanta Magazine in January 2026 and was featured by Eater Magazine in 2025 as one of Atlanta’s top three tea houses. His martial arts school was voted Best Martial Arts School by Best of Atlanta in 2021, 2023, and 2024. These honors reflect not only his expertise as a practitioner and teacher, but also his ability to build respected, successful organizations that bring traditional Chinese culture to the wider community.

His achievements have been recognized through induction into multiple martial arts halls of fame, including the United States Martial Arts Hall of Fame, the International Ving Tsun Hall of Fame, the International Traditional Kung Fu/Wushu Hall of Fame, and the International Wing Chun Gold Sash Hall of Fame. His additional recognition includes the Confederation of Canadian Wushu Organizations’ Martial Artist Achievement Award, an Outstanding Contribution Award from Wushu Canada, recognition from Toronto Mayor Mel Lastman, a Welcome to Atlanta Award from Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed, inclusion in Marquis Who’s Who In America as a subject of biographical record for demonstrating outstanding achievement in their field, and United States immigration recognition for exceptional ability. He was also nominated by Enterprise Wired magazine in 2026 for recognition as “The Most Iconic Wing Chun Master Shaping Global Martial Arts Education.”

Beyond martial arts, Wayne Belonoha built a distinguished career in management consulting, organizational development, project management, leadership, and professional education. He founded and led a team of approximately 80 professionals that grew into an industry-leading, multimillion-dollar professional-services company. His work focused on improving efficiency, organizational maturity, delivery methods, customer satisfaction, and quality while reducing waste and cost. According to his professional record, the methods and improvements delivered by his teams produced hundreds of millions of dollars in annual efficiency savings for client organizations.

His consulting clients included major corporations, financial institutions, public agencies, and technology organizations, among them IBM, Hewlett-Packard, Bell Canada, Coca-Cola, Citibank, Deloitte, Scotiabank, Toronto-Dominion Bank, the Toronto Stock Exchange, Royal Canadian Mounted Police, Canada’s Department of National Defence, Enbridge, TransCanada Pipelines, Saudi Aramco through Saudi Business Machines, L’Oréal, Manulife, Rogers Communications, and many others.

Wayne was also a recognized speaker and educator in the project-management profession. He developed and delivered courses on behalf of the Project Management Institute, spoke at ProjectWorld and Bell Canada’s National Project Management Conference, and regularly addressed Project Management Institute chapters. He taught management and leadership programs for Humber Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning, Boston University, and IBM. Wayne was also invited to speak about “Wu Wei – the Chinese Method of Effortless Action” at the Brazilian National Congress in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Sifu Belonoha’s unusual combination of traditional lineage knowledge, international competition experience, curriculum design, professional writing, organizational leadership, and executive consulting informs his approach to teaching. He presents Wing Chun not merely as a collection of techniques, but as a coherent system that can be studied, tested, refined, and transmitted with precision. Across his books, courses, seminars, schools, and organizational work, his goal has remained consistent: to preserve the depth of Ip Man Wing Chun while giving serious students a clear and practical path to mastery.
